Security & Welfare Support Officer

We are seeking a dedicated, vigilant and compassionate night shift Security & Welfare Support Officer to join our team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, secure and supportive environment for our premises, staff, visitors and service users. This role involves traditional security duties such as monitoring CCTV, completing patrols, responding to incidents and maintaining accurate records, but it also includes an important welfare element.

Our service users may have a range of support needs, so the successful candidate must be willing to engage positively, professionally and respectfully with residents, helping to promote safety, stability and positive behaviour within the accommodation. Training will be provided, but there will be a clear expectation that staff support service users appropriately as part of their day-to-day role.

• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to deter and detect signs of intrusion, damage, anti-social behaviour or suspicious activity.
• Monitor CCTV systems to help maintain the safety and security of all areas within the facility.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, welfare concerns and emergencies.
• Support service users in line with company policies, including signposting, de-escalation, basic welfare checks and encouraging positive behaviour.
• Promote a calm, respectful and safe environment for residents, staff, visitors and partner agencies.
• Implement loss prevention strategies to minimise theft, damage and misuse of property.
• Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, observations and any concerns relating to safety or welfare.
• Provide basic first aid where trained and appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, management, support services, local authorities and emergency services when required.
• Ensure compliance with all security, safeguarding, health and safety, and operational policies and procedures.
• Help promote a culture of safety, dignity, respect and accountability throughout the service.

Previous experience in a security, supported accommodation, housing, care, military, emergency services or similar frontline role would be advantageous, but is not essential. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong observational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff, visitors, members of the public and service users.
• A fair, firm and respectful approach when dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Confidence using or learning CCTV, reporting systems and basic IT.
• An understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding, or a willingness to learn.
• A proactive attitude towards safety, welfare and incident prevention.
• First aid training, security experience, CCTV knowledge or loss prevention experience would be beneficial.
