Position Overview
J Barbour & Sons is seeking an experienced Integration Developer to join our IT team during an exciting period of modernization. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining enterprise-level integrations that connect our cloud and on‑premise systems, B2B partners, and e‑commerce channels. Using a modern API‑led architecture specifically the Salesforce Mule Soft Anypoint Platform you will ensure reliable data movement across the entire Barbour ecosystem.
This role is ideal for a technical problem‑solver who enjoys working with SQL Server, SSIS, and modern API technologies to support a global retail brand.
- Development & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain integrations using Mule Soft Anypoint Platform and Cloud Hub.
- API Management: Build APIs utilizing REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and RAML.
- Database Integration: Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and SSIS ETL packages to support data pipelines.
- System Connectivity: Implement seamless integrations between internal systems, cloud platforms, and external trading partners.
- Testing & Support: Perform unit and integration testing while providing 2nd and 3rd level support for API failures and database errors.
- Documentation: Maintain technical specifications, data mappings, and interface documentation.
- Collaboration: Participate in design discussions with architects and work closely with project managers and external vendors in an Agile environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrable experience with Mule Soft Anypoint Platform and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Database Expertise: Strong SQL skills, including performance optimization and data transformation.
- Architecture Knowledge: Solid understanding of API‑led integration architecture and enterprise integration patterns.
- Problem Solving: Ability to convert complex business requirements into technical designs and troubleshoot across middleware and databases.
- Tools: Experience using Azure Dev Ops, Git, Jira, and Confluence within an Agile delivery framework.
- Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent professional training and experience.
- Sector Knowledge: Experience in apparel, fashion, or retail is considered a distinct advantage.
