Location: Coven Heath

Morson are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in machining and manufacturing processes, ideally with experience across 3- and 5-axis machining, milling and grinding.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, improving and sustaining manufacturing processes, working closely with Engineering, Quality and Operations to deliver improvements in safety, quality, cost and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and continuously improve manufacturing processes using data, Lean principles and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Support 3- and 5-axis machining, milling and grinding processes.
Manage minor process changes resulting from Engineering Design Changes and Engineering Release Notes (ERNs).
Identify and recommend product design improvements to improve manufacturability and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
Promote and support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support process flow, PFMEA and manufacturing risk assessment activities.
Design, procure and validate simple to moderately complex tools, fixtures and manufacturing aids.
Maintain and update configuration-controlled manufacturing documentation, including routings.
Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
Act as a key point of contact for manufacturing-related issues and provide technical support to Operations.
Support Quality Clinics, non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis and scrap reduction activities.
Support rework and out-of-scope manufacturing process requirements.
Drive manufacturing risk reduction through structured risk and problem-solving activities.
Support internal layered audits and manufacturing process audits.
Maintain TPM documentation and First Level Maintenance (FLM) sheets.
Support risk assessments and ergonomic assessments.
Provide technical support during customer visits and meetings.
Support the training and development of Operations staff, including mentoring and training apprentices where appropriate.
Work collaboratively across Engineering, Quality and Operations to resolve manufacturing issues and deliver business improvements.

Key

Skills & Experience:

Manufacturing Engineering experience within a machining/manufacturing environment.

Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis machining, milling and grinding.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.

Experience with PFMEA, process flow, risk assessment and structured problem solving.
Experience designing or developing manufacturing tools, fixtures and aids.
Ability to analyse manufacturing issues and implement effective root cause solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience with in an aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous
