We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team in our Wastewater Division to be based out of our Earlswood - Redhill Site.
As a successful candidate, you will using your electrical knowledge as well as your experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely and effective manner with minimum supervision allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefits of our customers.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact, and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees.
- Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw / chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.

38 hours per week, Monday-Friday 07 : 30 am - 3 : 36 pm, plus the inclusion on a standby rota for which you will receive additional Payment.
All PPE, Tools, plus a van will be provided.You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical / electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering.
What you should bring to the roleTo thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are :
- You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical / electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering.
- 18th Edition preferred, but training can be given.
- A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or escalating if required.
- An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors.
- Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
- Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Offering a salary up to £42,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
- Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12%
