Specialty Program Para educator
South Windsor Public Schools is seeking a para educator who will work in the Social, Academic, Inclusion, and Life Skills (SAILS) program at Timothy Edwards Middle School. It is classified as a nine and one-half (9.5) months, 31.25 hours per week.
The SAILS program is designed for students who require services related to a variety of educational, physical and medical needs and follows an inclusion model. Students receive specialized instruction with a practical application for language arts and mathematics as appropriate, as well as instruction in vocational and independent living skills; along with attending classes in the general education setting for other academic classes, specials, and electives.
South Windsor is a diverse community of approximately 27,000 citizens and more than 5,100 public school students. The district values this diversity, and has worked to create a district wide culture of equity and social consciousness. SWPS is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school (6‑8), and one high school (9‑12), all of which cultivate and support culturally responsive classrooms and learning communities.
The ongoing work of our teachers and staff includes the creation of enriching experiences that expand the depth of knowledge for students beyond today's classroom in order to produce graduates with the 21st century skills needed to make them college or career ready.

Qualifications:
Previous experience working with school‑age children in a special education program is desired. Assistance with toileting and lifting may be required. Applicant must possess an associate's degree, two years of college credits, or have passed the Para Pro exam.
Salary:
Entry rate is $23.81 per hour with incremental increases. 2025‑2026 Entry 12 months, 18 months, 24 months: $23.81, $25.09, $26.38, $27.66. Benefits are offered.
