Duties
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with parents, staff and the community.
  • Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision and proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure that child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, potty training, toileting, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities.
  • Physically able and willing to interact with children in the indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Supports the Head Teacher/Assistant Teacher in communication daily information to parents.
  • Assist in maintaining daily records as assigned.
  • Assist in environmental chores to maintain a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure.
  • Participating in continuing education programs, staff meetings and SWCDC functions as required.
  • Promotes effective working relationships and works cooperatively as a part of a team to facilitate the center's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Performs related duties as needed.
Requirements
  • CDA or minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education
  • Some experience working with young children.
  • Completion of First Aid and CPR courses or willingness to complete required courses.
  • Completion of Administration of Medication and Epi-Pen courses or willingness to complete required courses.
Nice To Haves
  • Knowledge of NAEYC standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of Connecticut Early Learning and Developmental Standards (CT ELDS)
  • Knowledge of Connecticut Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (CT DOTS)
