Specialist, Inventory Control

Under the direction of a supervisor and/or specialist, apply broad instructions to plan, assign and maintain control of plant inventory of all materials, parts, equipment and supplies. Exercise sound judgement to resolve inventory discrepancies, generate data reports, assist the materials team, and recommend process improvements. May be required to engage in interstate transportation of parts and materials.

• Track assigned parts and materials flow to maintain efficient and accurate materials control.
• Work with the group to assure proper material movement, storage and parts movement procedures and recording.
• Utilize computer programs to enter, retrieve, store information and generate reports.
• Schedule and record metal scrap sent out for reclamation.
• Follow‑up to carry out corrective actions, preventive maintenance and inventory reconciliation plans.
• Investigate and resolve unique discrepancies and recommend preventative changes.
• Monitor input data to ensure proper methods are adhered to and review transaction records for lost or unaccounted‑for materials.
• Seek out and engage in training and self‑development opportunities to obtain new skills.
• Perform specialized assignments in support of the Materials organization and collaborate with other groups.

• HS diploma or GED required with well‑rounded knowledge of inventory control principles and processes.
• Certificate (license) equivalent to specialized training in production control, inventory planning and control, and scheduling.
• 2+ years of experience in a factory/manufacturing environment working with inventory and production control data systems.

• Familiarity with manufacturing practices, tooling drawings and specifications.
• Accuracy and detail focused.
• Proficiency in data processing tools, computer programs and auditing practices applicable to scheduling, inventory and production control.
