Senior Accountant job vacancyin Wellington.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the full month-end close process and ensure timely completion of financial reporting
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
  • Prepare and review monthly income statement and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage fixed asset registers and related accounting processes
  • Process and reconcile accruals, provisions, VAT, and intercompany transactions
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies
  • Support annual audits and assist with audit preparation and queries
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and review accounting work where required
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within financial systems
  • Provide financial support and guidance to operational teams, depots, and agents
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
  • Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and financial documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
  • BCom, BAcc, or related Accounting qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant accounting experience
  • Proven experience managing the full month-end accounting cycle
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial schedules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Microsoft BC) advantageous
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
