Our client offers comprehensive end-to-end solutions, with services spanning scrap metal brokering, warehousing, shipping, foundry melting, and more. They are looking for an Accountant to join their team as soon as possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION /
PURPOSE:
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the company's payroll and accounting functions and ensure accurate financial record-keeping, statutory compliance, and efficient payroll administration while supporting the finance department with month-end and reporting requirements.
MAIN
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the full payroll function for approximately 110 employees, including both weekly wages and monthly salaried staff.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
- Maintain employee payroll records and resolve payroll-related queries.
- Administer payroll in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation.
- Perform full accounts payable functions.
- Process and reconcile supplier accounts.
- Assist with month-end financial processes and reconciliations.
- Prepare accounting records up to Annual Financial Statement (AFS) stage.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Process PAYE submissions.
- Complete and submit ITR
14 corporate tax returns. - Ensure compliance with SARS regulations and statutory deadlines.
- Maintain accurate financial information across all accounting systems.
- Generate financial and payroll reports as required.
- Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation when required.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of all financial information.
- Grade 12
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping or Payroll will be advantageous
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar accounting and payroll role.
- Proven experience managing payroll for approximately 110 employees.
- Strong knowledge of VAT, PAYE and SARS submissions.
- Experience preparing accounts up to AFS stage.
- Applicants must be highly proficient in:
Sage One Accounting, Sage One Payroll, Draft Worx - Strong numerical and analytical ability.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Professional integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
