Accounts Payable

Overview

Somerset West, South Africa. This is a half-day Accounts Payable Clerk role reporting to the Head of Finance in a lean finance team at the Head Office.

• Process supplier invoices and credit card receipts, including verification against purchase orders and delivery notes where applicable.
• Handle stock supplier bills integrated from the inventory management system, ensuring accurate coding and posting in Xero.
• Execute payments via batch processing or EFT following approvals and maintain vendor relationships.
• Perform bi-monthly creditor reconciliations, identify variances and resolve supplier queries.
• Manage the new vendor vetting process.
• Support month-end close by preparing accruals and reconciliations to aid the accountant.
• Maintain accurate records in Xero, ensuring audit-ready trails and SARS compliance (e.g., VAT handling).
• Assist with ad-hoc finance tasks, such as query resolution and process improvements, in a small-team environment.
• Contribute to system enhancements where applicable.
• Ad hoc tasks as needed.

• 3-5 years in accounts payable roles, ideally in engineering, manufacturing, or project-based industries.
• Experience with Approval Max is a plus.
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel).
• Familiarity with automation tools for OCR/invoice processing is a plus.
