Senior Accountant

Somerset West – A local accounting firm is seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible to manage a portfolio of clients with reference to accounting processing, financial reporting, tax compliance, and compilation of annual financial statements.

• Compilation and review of annual financial statements
• Record keeping of working paper files

• Monthly processing of bank statements, supplier and customer capturing reconciliations

• VAT calculations, reconciliations and submission to SARS

• Submission of Annual Income tax and Provisional tax returns for Companies, Individuals and Trusts

• Ensure all SARS correspondence is attended to in a professional and timeous manner

• Cognitive ability to learn and understand quickly
• Interpersonal skills: such as telephone skills, communication skills, active listening, and customer care
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently
• Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with team members and clients
• Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy‑to‑understand manner
• Proficient with general office applications
• Skill in preparing written communications and materials
• Accounting, Financial Statements and Income Tax experience essential
• Problem solving skills essential
• Attention to Detail

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Professional membership with accounting body (SAIPA / SAICA / SAIBA)
• Computer literate (Microsoft – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Digital accounting l systems experience (Xero)
• Caseware Working papers experience essential
• Experienced with digital communication systems, i.e. Teams, Zoom
• Good communication and time management skills
• Experience in a professional accounting practice/firm (minimum of 5 years’ experience)
