Join Our Growing Team! We are a well established and expanding South African Accounting Firm seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, deliver high quality accounting services, and work with a variety of cloud and desktop accounting systems. This role is ideally suited to someone with previous experience in an accounting practice who thrives in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment and takes pride in accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service.
Duties & Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of +/- 20 clients across various industries, with a dedicated assistant.
- Perform the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance.
- Process journals and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Manage debtors and creditors, including reconciliations.
- Prepare and review VAT calculations.
- Payroll administrator for your portfolio of clients.
- Compile monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all assigned clients.
- Liaise with clients regarding accounting queries and financial information requirements.
- Proven experience as an Accountant within an accounting practice or multi-client environment.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software, including Pastel, Xero, Quick Books, Sage Accounting, Sage Evolution, and Dext.
- Solid understanding of VAT legislation, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Accountant. Previous experience within an accounting practice is highly advantageous and will be given preference.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
