Aspen Logistics is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance team in Germiston. This role plays a vital part in supporting accurate financial processing, month-end activities, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and financial reporting across multiple business entities, helping ensure informed business decisions and strong financial governance.
About the RoleReporting to the Head of Finance, you will support the finance function by maintaining accurate financial records, processing month-end journals, performing reconciliations, managing cashbooks, assisting with VAT submissions, and supporting financial reporting across Aspen Logistics and its associated entities. You'll be part of a collaborative finance team focused on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Process daily cashbooks and maintain accurate cashflow schedules.
- Prepare month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and general ledger transactions.
- Perform balance sheet, bank, creditor, debtor, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and assist with SARS and BURS submissions.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and process monthly depreciation.
- Assist with month-end reporting, management accounts, and financial close activities.
- Support financial recoveries, billing schedules, and operational finance processes across multiple entities.
- Ensure financial records are accurate, compliant, and completed within internal reporting deadlines.
- Matric.
- Diploma or BCom in Accounting or Finance (required).
- 1–2 years' accounting experience.
- Experience with in the transport or logistics industry will be advantageous.
- Experience working with Botswana entities and BURS requirements will be advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Eclipse ERP will be beneficial.
- Ability to work confidently within a multi-entity finance environment.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to balance detailed financial work with an understanding of the broader business.
- Strong communication skills across multiple departments and entities.
- High levels of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to work under pressure while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Based in Germiston.
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel for stakeholder or audit meetings.
- Standard business hours, with additional hours required during month-end, audit, and reporting cycles.
