Description / Synopsis:
Our client, a well-established manufacturing business, is seeking an Accountant with strong expertise in stock and inventory management. This role focuses on accurate costing, variance analysis, and reliable financial reporting, while supporting efficient factory and workshop operations. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to add value, drive process improvements, and contribute to business success in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements:- BCom Accounting degree or equivalent
- Completed SAIPA/SAICA/CIMA articles OR
- 3 - 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing/workshop/industrial environment
- Strong background and exposure to stock control, inventory reconciliations, and cost accounting
- Advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge, with Syspro experience an advantage
- Thorough knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting and compliance requirements
- Sound understanding of variance analysis, audit support, and inventory reporting
- Manage stock levels across raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods
- Perform regular stock reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare product costing and analyse variances between actual and standard costs
- Produce accurate management reports on inventory, obsolescence, and operational efficiency
- Support annual budgets and monthly reporting cycles
- Collaborate with procurement, production, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure accurate stock data and reporting
- Drive enhancements in inventory controls and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Assist with audits, maintain compliance, and support financial reviews
- Ensure accurate record-keeping in ERP systems and compliance with statutory requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively across departments
- Proactive approach to process improvement
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
