Cost Accountant

Cost Accountant position available in Ashton.

We are currently looking for a Cost Accountant for a permanent position based in Ashton, Western Cape.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and report on product costs, including mix, volume, material and conversion variances.
• Analyse labour efficiency, yields, waste, cost drivers and cost control.
• Prepare cost analysis and highlight key findings for management action.
• Manage inventory, fixed assets and related balance sheet reconciliations.
• Set, upload and monitor standard costs using an activity-based costing model.
• Prepare new product costings and update existing costing standards.
• Load and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Report weekly on factory performance and operational variances.
• Monitor and follow up on open and long-outstanding orders.
• Support internal controls, capital expenditure and operating expense governance.

Requirements:

• Relevant graduate degree, with CIMA preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an agricultural production environment.
• Experience with standard costing and BOM analysis.
• Syspro or similar ERP system experience advantageous.
• Experience with budgeting, financial reporting and cost analysis.
• Knowledge of capital application processes and standard costing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-financial teams.
• Proactive, confident and able to manage complex financial information.
• Strong team player with the ability to take ownership.
