A leading specialist vehicle armouring and conversion company is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician to join its workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician with strong diagnostic, mechanical, and auto-electrical skills who takes pride in quality workmanship.

Role of the Technician
The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle diagnostics, fault finding, mechanical and electrical work, and the installation and testing of vehicle components and accessories. The role will suit a technically strong individual who can work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and assist in guiding junior workshop staff where required.

Remuneration:
Market related – Depending on experience.

Duties include

Conduct vehicle diagnostics and systematic fault finding.
Identify and resolve electrical and mechanical faults.
Diagnose faults across automotive electrical systems.
Work with vehicle wiring, switches, relays, accessories, and electrical components.
Test electrical circuits, components, and systems to identify faults.
Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments, and component fitment as required.
Assist with stripping, fitting, refitting, and assembly of vehicle components.
Install and test vehicle accessories and electrical equipment.
Ensure all work is completed accurately and to a high standard of workmanship.
Follow technical instructions, wiring diagrams, job cards, and workshop procedures.
Identify potential issues and provide practical technical solutions.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Assist with quality control and final checks on completed vehicles.
Supervise, guide, and support junior workshop staff where required.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment.

Requirements:

Proven experience as an Automotive Technician, Motor Mechanic, Senior Technician, or similar role.
Strong practical automotive experience with sound mechanical knowledge.
Strong vehicle diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
Experience with automotive electrical systems and auto-electrical work.
Good knowledge of wiring, switches, relays, accessories, and electrical components.
Ability to test and accurately identify electrical and mechanical faults.
Experience working with vehicle stripping, fitting, refitting, or conversions will be advantageous.
Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, technical instructions, and job cards.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Reliable, practical, and able to work independently.
Ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team.
Experience guiding or supervising junior technicians will be advantageous.
Qualified Motor Mechanic / Automotive Technician will be advantageous.
Relevant formal automotive qualifications will be beneficial but are not essential where strong practical experience can be demonstrated.
Valid driver's licence.
Reside within 30km radius of Selby, Wemmer Pan, Rosettenville, Regents Park, La Rochelle, City of Johannesburg
