Senior Health, Safety, and Environment; HSE) Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to join their operations team in Nelspruit. This role is crucial for ensuring that all activities within the Oil & Gas facilities adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

Your expertise will be vital in maintaining compliance and minimizing risks in the dynamic operational environment of Mpumalanga.

• Develop and implement comprehensive HSE management systems and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees at all levels.
• Prepare and submit HSE reports to management and relevant authorities.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE role within the Oil & Gas industry or a similar heavy industrial sector.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant South African HSE legislation and international standards (e.g., OHS Act, NEMA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing JSA's (Job Safety Analyses).
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
