Expeditor, Construction

Overview

The Expeditor will be responsible for ensuring that materials, equipment, and other resources are delivered to job sites in a timely manner to keep construction projects on schedule. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and attention to detail to streamline procurement and delivery processes.

• Coordinate Deliveries: Track and expedite the delivery of construction materials, tools, and equipment from suppliers to ensure timely arrival at job sites.
• Schedule and Monitor Deliveries: Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to confirm and schedule deliveries, ensuring compliance with project timelines.
• Inventory Management: Keep detailed records of materials received and check for accuracy and quality. Maintain inventory levels to ensure project needs are met without delays.
• Problem-Solving: Resolve delivery issues, discrepancies, and delays by working closely with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain delivery logs, shipping documents, and material receipts for project records.
• Communicate with Project Teams: Collaborate with construction managers, project coordinators, and contractors to understand material needs and adjust delivery schedules accordingly.
• Assist with Procurement: Help the procurement team with material ordering, tracking orders, and ensuring material availability for upcoming project phases.
• Ensure Compliance: Confirm that all deliveries meet the required safety standards and specifications.

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 5 years in a similar expediting role, preferably within the construction industry.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
• Ability to problem-solve and think critically in high-pressure situations.
• Familiarity with construction terminology and processes.
• Knowledge of Materials & Logistics: Understanding of construction materials, delivery methods, and construction site operations.

• Hours: Standard business hours. Potential overtime may be required based on project demands and logistics needs.
