Contracts Manager
Location: Kempton Park
Brief Description We are seeking two experienced Contracts Managers to join a dynamic civil engineering team delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across South Africa. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle management of construction projects, ensuring successful delivery in line with technical, financial, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, commercial acumen, and extensive experience in civil infrastructure such as roads, pipelines, and water reticulation.
Key Responsibilities (KPAs) Project & Operations Management
- Oversee and manage construction projects from initiation to completion
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Plan and coordinate labour, materials, and equipment
- Conduct regular site visits and progress evaluations
- Lead, manage, and develop technical teams
- Ensure effective resource allocation for project execution
- Drive productivity and operational efficiency
- Prepare and manage project budgets and cost control
- Approve invoices, purchase orders, and payment schedules
- Manage subcontractor agreements, rates, and contracts
- Coordinate weekly:
- Meetings
- Procurement
- Revenue and cost tracking
- Compile and submit reports to the Operations Director
- Conduct weekly reviews on progress, budget, and forward planning
- Work closely with SHEQ to enforce safety standards and procedures
- Ensure all quality assurance tests are conducted on time
- Oversee compliance with project specifications and regulations
- Manage stakeholder communication and reporting
- Chair internal and external project meetings
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping
- Handle contract initiation and completion certifications
- Ensure timely delivery of temporary and permanent designs
- Address technical and resource challenges effectively
- BTech / BSc in Civil Engineering
- Registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as:
- Professional Civil Engineer / Technologist / Technician
OR
- Professional Civil Engineer / Technologist / Technician
- Registered with South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) as:
- Professional Construction Project Manager / Construction Manager
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in civil infrastructure projects:
- Roads
- Stormwater
- Bulk pipelines
- Water & sewer reticulation
- Concrete works
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle (advantageous)
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent project planning and organisational ability
- Financial and commercial acumen
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
