Overview

The client is seeking a Construction Manager to support the immediate mobilization and delivery of the utility-scale solar PV and battery-storage project at Dwaalboom, Limpopo, South Africa. The role will provide site leadership from early works through construction, completion and handover over an anticipated 12–18 month project cycle. The ideal candidate will bring direct PV and battery-storage construction experience, strong multidisciplinary team leadership and the judgment to drive safe, high-quality, on-schedule and on-budget delivery in a fast-moving site environment.

Deliverables
  • Lead site construction delivery for the assigned PV and battery-storage project from mobilization and early works through completion, commissioning readiness and handover.
  • Own the integrated construction execution plan, including work fronts, sequencing, resourcing, milestones, interfaces and recovery actions.
  • Mobilize and direct multidisciplinary site teams, contractors and subcontractors, establishing clear accountabilities, site routines and work-front readiness across all work packages.
  • Maintain schedule, cost, risk and progress controls; report routinely to the Project Manager, Project Director and relevant steering and governance forums; and elevate required decisions.
  • Engage client leadership, contractors, suppliers and relevant external stakeholders to resolve interfaces, issues and dependencies promptly.
  • Integrate health, safety and quality requirements into daily construction execution and drive closure of incidents, non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate completion, punch‑list closeout, testing and commissioning readiness, as‑built records and handover.
Requirements Experience required:
  • A strong track record, supported by at least five years in construction management and at least two years specifically in solar PV or renewable energy, leading utility‑scale solar PV construction from mobilization through completion; direct battery‑storage project experience is preferred, while exceptional utility‑scale PV candidates may be considered.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary site teams, contractors and subcontractors against demanding construction schedules.
  • Experience integrating construction, health and safety, quality and commissioning work streams into a coherent site‑delivery plan.
  • Experience delivering renewable‑energy construction in South Africa or a comparable regulated project environment.
Technical requirements
  • Strong construction planning and controls capability, including sequencing, resource planning, schedule management, progress measurement, risk management and recovery planning.
  • Sound practical understanding of utility‑scale PV and battery‑storage work packages, fixed‑tilt and tracker systems (including Nextracker or Array Technologies), balance‑of‑plant activities, grid integration and substations.
  • Ability to manage contractor performance, technical interfaces, site documentation, change, completion and handover readiness.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001 / OSHA‑aligned HSE requirements and contract management; FIDIC experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • SACPCMP Construction Management credential—mandatory.
