Location: Postmasburg
Introduction
Our client, a global engineering and construction company, is seeking an experienced Civil & PV Field Construction Supervisor to oversee and coordinate civil and solar field construction activities for a large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) project in the Northern Cape. This is a project-based contract until November 2027.
Duties & Responsibilities- Supervise daily civil and solar field construction activities.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors and site teams.
- Monitor earthworks, foundations, roads, drainage and associated infrastructure.
- Supervise solar field/PV-related installation activities.
- Ensure construction complies with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction progress.
- Ensure adherence to HSE, quality and environmental requirements.
- Identify construction risks, delays and non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers and other disciplines.
- Review construction documentation and technical information.
- Maintain daily progress reports and site records.
- Support inspections, testing, punch-list activities and project close-out.
- Ensure contractors meet programme, quality and productivity targets.
- Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ construction supervision experience, preferably on large-scale renewable-energy projects.
- Experience in solar PV/civil construction or power plant projects highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of earthworks, foundations, roads and associated civil works.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of South African OH&S and construction requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literate with good reporting and documentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
