Construction Site Manager

Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

This opportunity is available for a technically oriented individual with experience in the construction industry. Reporting to the General Manager:
Engineering, you will be based at our Packaging Services business unit in the Grabouw area and work closely with appointed project teams, consultants and contractors.

Services will be required for the construction of a new Refrigerated Air (RA) Storage facility and Forced Air cooling tunnels at the Molteno site for an estimated period of 8 months.

• Supervising and overseeing the direction of the project, ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met and reviewing progress
• Keep the project team updated and informed on a daily basis regarding progress
• Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations
• Manage activities that could impact the environment
• Implement Environmental guidelines
• Manage and control site access and report incidents
• Record site activities, personnel and equipment on site on a daily basis
• Report and act on unsafe practices immediately to the appointed H&S Officer
• Check, measure and observe activities as requested by the project team
• Record and verify quantities measured on site
• Attend and participate at site meetings

• Construction management experience is essential
• B.Eng,
  
  B.Tech, National Diploma or similar tertiary qualifications
• 10+ years Practical experience in Civil and Structural Engineering disciplines and the construction of buildings
• Interpret drawings and diagrams
• Experience with the construction of cold storage advantageous
• Organising and planning skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly skilled in Microsoft office
• Attention to detail
