To manage and coordinate construction activities on site, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget while meeting required quality standards and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day construction activities on site.
- Coordinate employees, subcontractors, suppliers and plant.
- Ensure work is executed according to drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
- Monitor progress against the project programme and report delays.
- Allocate labour, materials, plant and other resources effectively.
- Assist with planning and programming of construction activities.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and consultants.
- Ensure site documentation and progress records are maintained.
- Work closely with Health & Safety personnel to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Monitor workmanship, materials and quality standards.
- Address defects and non-conformances.
- Supervise site employees and contractors and monitor productivity.
- Monitor material and plant usage and minimise wastage.
- Escalate operational, safety, quality and employee-relations issues appropriately.
- National Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in construction/civil engineering.
- Proven experience managing construction sites.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and site operations.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver's licence.
- SACPCMP registration would be advantageous, depending on project requirements.
