Procurement Officer - Construction Materials

Our client, a reputable construction company operating in Benoni, Gauteng , is looking for a dedicated Procurement Officer to manage the acquisition of construction materials, equipment, and services. This role is essential for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget by securing the best possible prices and terms for necessary resources. You will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing purchase orders, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

• Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications and company policies.
• Manage supplier performance and conduct regular evaluations to ensure quality and reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier information, and inventory levels on-site.
• Collaborate with project management teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely procurement.
• Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to orders, deliveries, or invoices.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure all procurement adheres to relevant building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies and best practices for the construction sector.

• Proven experience as a Procurement Officer, Buyer, or in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Solid understanding of construction materials, equipment, and supply chain management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with procurement or construction management software.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
• A relevant qualification in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or Business Administration is advantageous.
• Knowledge of the local supplier market in and around Benoni.
