Civil Supervisor – Mining & EPCM

Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the mining and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) environment, is seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor to join its team for a battery deployment project at a mining operation near Marikana, Rustenburg, with work across related project sites as required. This is a hands-on construction supervisory position suited to a professional with extensive experience in civil construction and site supervision within industrial, mining, processing plant or energy projects.

The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities, ensuring that earthworks, foundations, concrete works, drainage, roads, trenches, equipment plinths and structural interfaces are executed safely, on schedule and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, legal requirements and project governance requirements. The role requires strong technical and leadership ability, high safety awareness and the capacity to manage contractors, monitor progress, resolve site-related technical issues and support the successful completion and handover of the project.

• A Civil Engineering qualification, National Diploma or equivalent recognised qualification is essential.
• A civil construction supervision qualification will be advantageous.
• An occupational health and safety qualification will be advantageous.
• Minimum 7 years' relevant experience in civil construction and project supervision.
• Proven experience in industrial, mining, processing plant or energy projects.
• Demonstrated experience supervising civil contractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Sound knowledge of earthworks, excavation, compaction, concrete construction, foundations, slabs, plinths, reinforcement and formwork.
• Knowledge of drainage, stormwater management and underground services.
• Ability to interpret civil, structural and survey drawings, specifications and survey information.
• Sound knowledge of the MHSA, OHSACT and applicable construction regulations.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work, excavation and services-clearance procedures.
• Understanding of project schedules, quality plans, inspection and test plans, and contractor management.
• Experience with surveying, setting out, quality inspections and construction testing.
• Experience with equipment foundations and battery energy storage projects will be advantageous.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel, for reporting, records and progress documentation.
• Willingness to be based on site at Marikana, Rustenburg, and to travel to other project locations as required.
