Senior Quantity Surveyor - Commercial Construction

Our client, a reputable force in the commercial construction sector, is looking for a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Klerksdorp, North West . This pivotal role involves managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from initial estimates to final account. You will be instrumental in ensuring the financial viability of projects by controlling costs, managing budgets, and advising on financial matters to senior management. • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.
• Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating bids.
• Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Administer contracts, including managing variations, claims, and disputes.
• Monitor project costs against the budget, identifying and reporting on any deviations.
• Valuation of work in progress and interim payments to subcontractors.
• Preparation and agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Advise on procurement strategies and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, project teams, and other stakeholders.
• Provide financial advice and support to project managers and senior management.

• A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a significant portion focused on commercial construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of various forms of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JBCC).
• Proven ability to manage project costs effectively from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and market rates.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Professional affiliation with SACQSP (South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession) is advantageous.
