Site Civil Engineer - Construction Oversight

What Jobs Direct is seeking a diligent and hands-on Site Civil Engineer to join a major construction project in Vereeniging, Gauteng

This role requires a proactive engineer who can provide on-site supervision and technical support to ensure construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. You will be responsible for overseeing a variety of civil works, including earthworks, concrete structures, roadworks, and drainage systems. This is a critical on-site position requiring your full-time presence in Vereeniging

, working closely with the construction team, subcontractors, and project management.

• Supervise and manage all on-site civil engineering activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and work permits.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations on the construction site.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors and direct labor to optimize productivity and efficiency.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of progress reports and payment certificates.
• Liaise with the design team, consultants, and the client's representative to resolve site-specific queries and technical challenges.
• Ensure accurate setting out and dimensional control of civil works.
• Maintain daily site records, including progress, resources used, and any incidents.

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering construction supervision and site management.
• Proven experience in managing earthworks, concrete structures, road construction, and drainage systems.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control procedures.
• Familiarity with relevant construction regulations and safety standards in South Africa

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously on a busy construction site in Vereeniging
