Resident Engineer - Civil Infrastructure

Our client, a reputable civil engineering firm known for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee construction activities in
** Nelspruit, Mpumalanga**. This critical role requires a proactive and diligent engineer to ensure that all civil infrastructure works are executed in accordance with project specifications, design drawings, and quality standards. You will act as the primary point of contact on-site, managing and coordinating all construction-related activities, including contractor supervision, quality control, progress monitoring, and issue resolution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and site management best practices.

• Supervise and manage all on-site civil engineering construction activities.
• Ensure construction works comply strictly with approved design drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, and adherence to the project schedule.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks.
• Identify, document, and resolve construction-related issues and discrepancies promptly.
• Manage site-based project documentation, including daily reports, site instructions, and payment certificates.
• Liaise with the client, consultants, contractors, and relevant authorities on site.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
• Review and approve contractor submittals, method statements, and program updates.
• Facilitate site meetings and maintain effective communication among all project stakeholders.

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Professional registration (PrEng) with ECSA is highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering construction supervision and site management.
• Proven experience as a Resident Engineer or Site Manager on infrastructure projects (roads, bulk services, etc.).
• Thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and contract administration.
• Familiarity with relevant South African building codes and SANS standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Proficiency in site management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to reside/work within the
  ** Mpumalanga
