Architectural Designer - Educational Institutions

About the Role Our client, an award-winning architectural practice known for its innovative and functional designs for educational institutions, is seeking a creative Architectural Designer to join their team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role focuses on the design and development of inspiring learning environments, from early childhood centers to higher education campuses. You will be involved in all stages of the design process, contributing to conceptualization, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong design sensibility, excellent technical skills, and a passion for creating spaces that foster learning, collaboration, and innovation. You will work closely with a team of experienced architects and consultants, contributing to projects that shape the future of education in the region.

• Develop innovative design concepts for educational facilities in Nelspruit .
• Produce high-quality architectural drawings, renderings, and physical models.
• Collaborate with project architects, educational consultants, and engineers to define project requirements and design solutions.
• Assist in the preparation of design development and construction documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with educational facility standards, building codes, and accessibility regulations.
• Conduct site analysis and programming for new educational projects.
• Participate in client presentations and workshops.
• Research and integrate new technologies and pedagogical approaches into design solutions.
• Coordinate with contractors and respond to RFIs during the construction phase.
• Contribute to the firm's expertise in educational architecture.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
• SACAP registration is an advantage.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on educational facilities being highly desirable.
• Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketch Up.
• Strong 3D modeling, rendering, and graphic presentation skills.
• Understanding of pedagogical principles and their translation into spatial design.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage design tasks and contribute to project timelines.
• Familiarity with South African building codes and regulations.
• A portfolio showcasing design talent and relevant project experience.
