Role Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Afrikaans First Language to Grades 10, 11, and 12, delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the CAPS curriculum, and preparing learners for internal assessments and the NSC examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Afrikaans First Language to Grades 10–12
- Plan, prepare, and present engaging CAPS-aligned lessons
- Set, mark, moderate, and manage assessments and examinations
- Accurately and timeously mark internal and exam scripts
- Prepare learners for NSC examinations and monitor academic progress
- Maintain accurate learner records, reports, and assessment schedules
- Participate in staff meetings, subject meetings, and parent engagements
- Contribute positively to the school’s academic culture, values, and ethos
- Recognised teaching qualification (BEd or PGCE)
- Afrikaans First Language proficiency (spoken and written)
- Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience at high school level
- Proven experience teaching Grades 10–12
- Strong knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and assessment requirements
- Experience in marking formal assessments and examinations
- Strong classroom management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective organisational and time-management skills
- Passion for learner development and academic excellence
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
