The main purpose of this position is to teach, research, engage with the community and perform administrative duties pertaining to Social Work. The position requires teaching, researching, community engagement and administration of Social Work modules in line with the University’s strategic and operational plans.
Key Performance Areas- The Provision of strategic leadership at the level of Discipline and Qualification.
- The provision of leadership in teaching & learning and the provision of relevant, up to date courses, using modern and appropriate pedagogies.
- The provision of leadership in research at Discipline level and the production of accredited research outputs.
- Postgraduate supervision and the graduation of Honours, or Master's students in the minimum time.
- Engagement and leadership in engagement through which knowledge and skills are used to benefit the discipline/profession and the community.
- Progress towards obtaining a PhD is an added advantage.
- Some lecturing experience at university level.
- Some research outputs or activities, including publication in accredited national and international journals or invited presentations at national and international conferences.
- Postgraduate supervision of Honours or Master's students.
- Knowledge of the theory and application of the discipline.
- Understanding of principles of leadership and management with very well-developed leadership and management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills.
- An in-depth understanding of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education and very well-developed teaching skills.
- A good understanding of national and international research environment including funding.
- Understanding of the role of the University in Engagement and an ability to lead engagement activities in teaching or research
- People-oriented, hardworking, responsible, reliable, creative, and innovative.
- Respectful, honest, punctual, and understanding of protocol.
- Proven attributes of transparency, integrity, and teamwork
