About the Role
An established independent school is seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Grade 6 & 7 Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) Educator to join its academic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Afrikaans FAL instruction to learners in Grades 6 and 7, creating a positive learning environment, and contributing to the overall academic and personal development of learners.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) to Grade 6 and Grade 7 learners in accordance with the curriculum.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning abilities and styles.
- Assess, monitor, and report on learner progress and achievement.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, attendance, and learner performance.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages learner participation, confidence, and academic growth.
- Establish positive relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in staff meetings, parent engagements, school functions, and extracurricular activities where required.
- Uphold the values, policies, and standards of the school.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) qualification.
- Current and valid SACE registration.
- 4+ years' experience in a similar Afrikaans FAL teaching role is preferred.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the CAPS curriculum.
- Proven ability to teach and assess learners effectively within the Intermediate and Senior Phases.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational, administrative, and time-management abilities.
- Competency in the use of educational technology and digital learning platforms will be advantageous.
- Passion for education and learner development.
- Professional, positive, and collaborative approach.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage learners.
- Commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development.
