Job PurposeApplications are invited to fill the position of Lecturer in Art Education and the Methodology of Art Education in the Intermediate Phase and Foundation Phase Departments.
Candidates with specific skills in the teaching of Art Education and the Methodology of Art Education are required at the Wellington Campus, where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.
Qualifications- Relevant Master’s degree in Art Education
- Relevant teaching qualification (preferably at primary school level)
- Art or an equivalent subject as a major subject at the undergraduate level
- Two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience at school level
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English
- Exposure to academic teaching methodology at tertiary level
- Evidence of competence in research and supervision
- Teaching the various components of Art and Art Education and the relevant methodologies in the Foundation and Intermediate Phases
- Community Engagement
- Academic administration
- Curriculum development and assessment
- Quality assurance
- Supervising and evaluating FP and IP students during teaching practice
- Mentoring/coaching students
- Networking with schools and other partners
- Community engagement and service learning
- Conducting research
- Expert knowledge in Art Education
- Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge
- Competent in assessment and quality assurance
- Academic administration, development, and marks administration
- Good work ethics and ability to manage work
- Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms

- Strong student focus
- Meticulous planning and organising skills/time management
- Networking with schools and other networks
- Ability to align yourself to hybrid and blended teaching and learning models (face-to-face and online learning)
