History Teacher

Our client, a reputable secondary school located in Soweto , is seeking an inspiring and knowledgeable History Teacher to join their social sciences department. You will be responsible for educating students on historical events, critical analysis of sources, and understanding societal development from various perspectives. This role requires a passionate educator committed to fostering historical thinking skills and engaging students with the richness and complexity of the past, contributing to a vibrant academic community within the Gauteng region.

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for History, covering South African and World History curricula for various grades.
• Foster critical thinking, research skills, and analytical abilities among students.
• Utilize diverse teaching methods, including discussions, debates, primary source analysis, and multimedia presentations.
• Assess student learning through assignments, essays, projects, and examinations.
• Promote an understanding of historical context and its relevance to contemporary issues.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the Social Sciences faculty to enrich the curriculum and share best practices.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
• A degree specializing in History or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching History at the secondary school level.
• Strong knowledge of the South African National Curriculum and relevant historical periods.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
