About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Solar Energy Technician to join their growing installation team in Vereeniging . You will be responsible for the physical installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential and commercial clients. This role requires proficiency in electrical work, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
You will play a direct role in advancing sustainable energy adoption within the community and contributing to the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.
- Install solar panels, inverters, mounting hardware, and associated electrical components according to design specifications.
- Perform electrical wiring and connections for solar PV systems, ensuring compliance with safety codes.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of installed solar systems.
- Diagnose and repair system faults to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Assist with system commissioning and client handover, providing basic system operation guidance.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and inventory.
- Technical qualification or certification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Technology, or a related trade.
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a solar installer or electrical technician .
- Solid understanding of solar PV system components, principles, and safety procedures.
- Proficiency with electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong work ethic, physical fitness, and willingness to work at heights and in various weather conditions in Vereeniging .
