Gas Plant Operations Technician - Field Operations

Our client, a prominent natural gas processing company, is seeking a dedicated Gas Plant Operations Technician to join their team in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA . This hands‑on role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of natural gas processing facilities, including monitoring equipment, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring adherence to operational procedures. You will play a vital role in maintaining plant reliability and productivity, contributing directly to the company's success in the Oil & Gas sector.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with process control systems, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

• Operate and monitor gas processing plant equipment, including compressors, separators, and control systems.
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on plant equipment.
• Respond to operational upsets and emergencies, taking appropriate actions to ensure safety and minimize downtime.
• Monitor process variables (temperature, pressure, flow rates) and adjust operations as needed to maintain optimal performance.
• Collect process samples for laboratory analysis and record operational data accurately.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
• Assist in troubleshooting operational issues and implementing solutions.
• Participate in start-up and shutdown procedures for plant equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in operational areas.
• Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, fellow operators, and maintenance personnel.

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or diploma in a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in gas plant operations or a similar industrial processing environment.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry, specifically with natural gas processing, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with process control systems (DCS/SCADA) and instrumentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to safety and understanding of HSE principles.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good physical condition, with the ability to work in various weather conditions and lift moderately heavy objects.
• Experience working in the Benoni, Gauteng, ZA area or willingness to relocate.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
