Wind Turbine Technician Lead

Our client is seeking a seasoned and proactive Wind Turbine Technician Lead to guide their maintenance team in the Benoni area. This essential role involves ensuring the optimal performance and safety of wind turbine installations through effective leadership, technical expertise, and rigorous maintenance practices. You will be responsible for supervising daily operations, coordinating repairs, performing complex diagnostics, and mentoring junior technicians.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of wind energy technology, contributing to the reliable operation of renewable energy assets within Gauteng and supporting the company's commitment to sustainable power generation.

• Lead and mentor a team of wind turbine technicians in performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on wind turbine systems .
• Perform complex component replacements, including gearboxes, generators, and pitch systems.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company procedures during all site activities.
• Manage work orders, maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, and report on turbine performance.
• Collaborate with operations managers to optimize turbine availability and energy output.

• Technical diploma or certification in Wind Turbine Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician , with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex issues on major wind turbine components.
• Strong understanding of SCADA systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components of turbines.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
