Safety Officer; Mining Security Kathu

Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of the Role

To ensure compliance with mine health and safety legislation implement effective safety management systems and promote a culture of zero harm across all security operations.

• Ensure compliance with ISO standards : ISO 18788 : 2015 ISO 14001 : 2015 ISO 9001 : 2015 ISO 45001 : 2018.
• Implement and maintain health and safety management systems in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act and company standards.
• Advise on compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act PSIRA POPIA and other relevant regulations.
• Liaise with regulatory mining stakeholders to ensure legal compliance.

• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments for operational areas.
• Assist with risk mitigation controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor occupational health risks and coordinate emergency preparedness plans.

• Develop and review Safe Operating Procedures and SHE system procedures.
• Prepare and maintain Safety Files and compliance documentation.
• Support monthly reporting to Site Manager MD & National Compliance Manager.

• Perform internal SHE audits and inspections applying COMSOC 1 & 2 principles.
• Conduct Planned Job Observations (PJOs / PTOs) and contractor safety management.

• Lead or assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis (WHY technique).
• Collect analyse and report SHE data for decision-making.

• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
• Conduct safety talks awareness programs and toolbox talks.
• Drive Safe Behavioural Observations Program and promote a strong safety culture.

• Participate in emergency drills and ensure readiness across sites.
