The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world s manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

South 32 will support assistance for part-time studies aligned to role requirements and business needs at accredited institutions to eligible employees.

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Superintendent Production Mining, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring successful production execution processes, while maintaining safety and costs.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Manage mining operations and processes;
• Monitor daily achievement of targets;
• Ensuring that the logistics team supports and enables the delivery of areas planned to be mined for the production month;
• Embrace diversity and promote inclusion;
• Safely deliver volume targets;
• Sign-off and manage the execution of the Monthly Plans;
• Assist in implementing and assuring project work meets quality requirements;
• Responsible for safety and improvements in their areas of responsibility;
• Support Safety and Health initiatives and campaigns.

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Production & Mining environment of which 3 years must be in a Line Leadership role;
• Experience of underground drill & blast and logistics requirements is essential;
• Knowledge of SAP and MS packages.

• Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency required;
• Degree/National Diploma in mining engineering;
• Mine Manager Certificate advantageous.
