Purpose of JobTo participate in global C&I engineering standard setting, ensure assurance and performance goals for indirect reports, define project scopes and support C&I engineer development. The role also provides project support and defines/assures project delivery KPI sets.
Key Accountabilities- Manage the relationship with internal and external service providers applicable to the function/discipline.
- Adhere to work standards and ensure it is met according to quality, quantity and due dates.
- Maintain discipline specific systems, tools, policies and procedures for the execution of projects.
- Ensure adherence and compliance to Sasol safety system and culture.
- Ensure knowledge on area specific equipment in area of responsibility for e.g.. transmitters and control valves to be able to maximise availability and production outputs.
- Ensure good working relationship with all stake holders especially with the instrumentation and control fraternity as well as plant production and maintenance personnel.
- Liaise with external engineering companies to share in knowledge and benchmark on best practices.
- Perform trip and alarm testing.
- Change range and calibration of instruments on process automation systems.
- Change range and trip settings on process automation systems.
- Configure transmitters using AMS,FDM / HART communicator.
- Pilot and test plant modifications executed correctly with high quality.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, Sasol policies and standards.
- Manage discipline specific project risks.
- Perform quality control of delivered services.
- Ensure teams safety objectives and required training is completed.
- Review Sasol policies for applicability and implementation.
- Develop deviation concessions and concession registers to Sasol specifications for small project execution.
- Govern proposed modifications.
- Take responsibility to drive initiatives which improves delivery and competitiveness.
- Ensure quality of design, EOJ documentation etc.
- Approve Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) readiness.
- Develop and facilitate the implementation of new designs and innovation in discipline area.
- Plan resources against short and long term objectives.
- Notify changes in resourcing needs.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation.
- Effective resource allocation and utilisation.
- Drive high performance culture and innovative thinking.
- Ensure critical competencies are developed.
- Develop technical and engineering skills of EITs through coaching.
- Ensure compliance with legal, safety and operational reliability requirements.
- Adhere to Sasol values.
- Contribute in the translation and execution of the technical support strategy.
- Translate and cascade goals and long term plans through effective two way communication in the organisation.
- Demonstrate One Sasol way behaviour ensure area under control is managed to the benefit to the larger Sasol value chain.
- Manage engineering knowledge by transforming, packaging, transferring and maintaining knowledge.
- Participate in interpersonal skills required for productive working relationships and to work with, or through, others inside and/or outside (including suppliers) the organisation to get work accomplished.

- Experience on ABB and Rockwell Automation VFDs
- Experience on Rockwell Automation Logix 5000

- University Bachelors Degree
