Project Engineer - Mechanical

A well-established engineering and manufacturing company specialising in the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of industrial processing plants and equipment is seeking an accountable and self-motivated Project Engineer to support its continued growth.

The organisation operates in a technically demanding environment and is recognised for delivering robust, reliable engineering solutions suited to challenging operating conditions. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary engineering team and play a key role in the execution and coordination of multiple engineering projects.
Role Overview The Project Engineer will be responsible for leading and coordinating multiple engineering projects concurrently, from proposal handover through to execution and delivery. The role requires a strong technical foundation combined with solid project coordination capability, ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with client requirements, technical specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously
• Design, analyse, and review technical process flow diagrams based on approved project proposals
• Accurately capture client requirements and translate them into clear project specifications
• Compile detailed equipment lists from project proposals and process flow diagrams
• Provide technical input during plant layout development and detailed design phases
• Monitor project progress and compile regular progress and status reports
• Ensure all project documentation is accurately maintained and controlled
• Document, track, and follow up on key actions and decisions from meetings
• Organise, attend, and participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings
• Review commercial documentation including proposals, quotations, and contracts, and compile technical summaries
• Prepare collection notes and customs documentation for equipment shipments
• Coordinate internal departments to ensure alignment with customer and project requirements
• Identify project risks and issues and implement appropriate mitigation measures
• Maintain and monitor project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures

Qualifications and Experience Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• BTech Mechanical Engineering or BEng Mechanical Engineering or BSc Mechanical Engineering
  OR
• BTech Project Management with strong technical engineering capability

Experience:

• Experience with in a machinery manufacturing or industrial equipment environment
• Exposure to engineering-driven projects involving design, fabrication, and installation

Key Skills and Competencies

• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• High level of computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, Visio, and MS Project
• Working knowledge of CAD software such as Solid Works and AutoCAD is advantageous
• Experience using Jira Atlassian tools is advantageous
• Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• High attention to detail and strong documentation control skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Comfortable managing multiple projects in a technical environment
• Professional discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
