As an Associate Director, you will take on a visible and influential role leading the delivery of complex delay and disruption assignments.
You will work closely with senior leaders, testifying experts, and clients to deliver robust, defensible delay analysis, while ensuring a high‑quality and commercially focused client experience.
You will play a key role in the success of our projects by:
- Leading end‑to‑end delay analysis commissions, including forensic schedule analysis, critical path assessment, and the preparation of expert‑ready reports.
- Applying a range of industry‑recognised methodologies (e.g., Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis, As‑Planned vs As‑Built) to deliver clear, defensible conclusions.
- Driving quality, commercial and client outcomes, ensuring all outputs meet HKA’s standards for technical excellence and clarity.
- Managing, coaching and developing junior consultants, building capability in delay analysis and project controls across the team.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, legal teams and stakeholders, clearly explaining complex delay issues in a structured and accessible way.
- Supporting expert witnesses through the preparation of analysis and reports, and contributing to the production of high‑quality expert evidence.
- Strengthening client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand delay, disruption and broader HKA services.
- Supporting business development through bids, proposals, thought leadership and market engagement, helping grow HKA’s delay analysis offering.
- Managing commercial aspects of commissions, including budgeting, utilisation, risk identification and financial performance.
We’re looking for a commercially aware and technically strong delay professional who brings:
- A degree in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- A relevant postgraduate qualification and/or industry‑recognised delay accreditation (e.g., AACE, CIArb, SCL awareness) – preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in delay analysis, forensic planning, or dispute resolution, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Proven experience delivering delay analysis on complex construction or engineering projects, including work supporting disputes, arbitration or litigation.
- Strong experience using planning and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Asta Power project, MS Project).
- Demonstrated ability to lead commissions and manage teams, delivering high‑quality outputs under pressure.
- Experience supporting expert witnesses or acting in an expert or assistant‑to‑expert capacity.
