Senior Engineering Manager

Introduction

A leading manufacturing company based in Pinetown is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead and optimize engineering operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a strong technical leader with experience in process improvement, project execution, lean manufacturing, and engineering team management.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering department
• Oversee process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage engineering projects, equipment installations, and production line upgrades
• Drive cost reduction, waste reduction, and production efficiency
• Support quality and compliance standards within manufacturing operations
• Manage cross-functional engineering teams
• Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding engineering and process improvements
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Manage departmental reporting, budgets, and KPIs

Key Requirements

• BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Engineering Management role within automotive manufacturing
• Strong experience in project management within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and continuous improvement
• Experience with automotive quality systems and standards
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license and own transport

Advantageous Experience

• Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma certification
• CAD software knowledge
• ERP/MES systems experience
• Automotive manufacturing experience
• Advanced project management skills
• SPC and data analysis experience

Technical Skills

• MS Office proficiency
• CAD and project management tools
• Strong reporting and analytical skills
• Knowledge of IATF
  16949, ISO
  14001, and related systems
