PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To maintain or improve environmental performance on an operational level and ensure compliance to environmental legislation and standards.

• A relevant diploma/degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Management/Natural Science is essential
• Minimum of 3 years of environmental management experience in mining or similar industry is essential
• Computer literacy (MS Office package) is essential
• Honours degree & relevant professional certificates would be an advantage (ISO 14001 implementation and Environmental laws)
• Experience in Environmental management system would be an advantage
• Professional registration with SACNASP or EAPASA would be an advantage
• Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit to obtain such a certificate
• Driver's License

• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation (NEMA & SEMAs, NWA, NHA etc.)
• Communicate environmental issues.
• Ensure conformance to ISO
  14001 EMS requirements through inspections and audits.
• Manage incidents, inspections and non-conformances.
• Implementation of mitigation measures to manage environmental impact.
• Review and ensure implementation of environmental procedures and site standards.
• Ensure continual improvement by managing planned actions
• Administrate the environmental database.
• Assist with environmental performance review and sustainability reporting
