Job Title: Re-Engineering Draughtsman
Location: Germiston

Will be responsible for reverse-engineering existing components, redesigning outdated or obsolete parts & producing accurate technical drawings & 3D models to support manufacturing improvements, cost reduction & product optimization. The role requires strong mechanical understanding, CAD proficiency & the ability to interpret engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    matric / grade 12.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Creo, Inventor or similar).
  • 3-5 years drafting experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Previous experience in reverse engineering or redesign work would be highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with fabrication, machining, welding & assembly process.
  • Strong 2D/3D CAD modelling & technical drawing expertise.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components, materials, tolerances & industry standards.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes & engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform dimensional analysis, component measurement & disassembly to recreate technical drawings for existing parts.
  • Identify engineering improvements for manufacturability, performance enhancement or cost reduction.
  • Translate legacy drawings, rough sketches or physical components into CAD models and updated engineering documentation.
  • Develop detailed 2D & 3D drawings, assemblies & fabrication drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works or similar.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with manufacturing standards, tolerances & company drafting guidelines.
  • Update & revise drawings based on engineering changes, production feedback or inspection findings.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications & material lists for production teams.
  • Work closely with welders, machinists & fabricators to ensure drawings align with available manufacturing capabilities.
  • Verify accuracy & completeness of drawings before production release.
