Position: TC244098 - Technical Manager MEP
Location: Aberdeen

Position

An opportunity has arisen for a full‑time Technical Manager (MEP) to work in the Estates Department within the Facilities and EHealth Directorate of NHS Grampian. The post will be based initially at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and will provide technical commissioning services to major construction projects across Grampian.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure mechanical and electrical installations within physical infrastructure projects are installed and commissioned to relevant statutory, technical and NHS specific standards and in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Deal with multidisciplinary teams of construction and health professionals.
  • Undertake detailed inspections, plan and witness commissioning of installed services and prepare reports on progress regarding live construction sites.
  • Interpret and advise on highly complex technical commissioning results to ensure installations are completed to the highest quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Recognised construction industry qualification up to degree level in a technical subject, preferably a chartered member of an engineering institute (e.g. MEng, BEng or equivalent).
  • Relevant previous experience of technical commissioning of complex mechanical and electrical systems in the building construction sector; ideally experience in a lead technical and commissioning role.
  • Experience in an NHS setting desirable.
  • Previous experience in technical commissioning on significant sized construction projects and familiarity with BSRIA and CIBSE commissioning guidance and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email) essential and familiarity with CAD drawing packages and construction related document management systems desirable.
  • CSCS card required; current driving licence essential.
