About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Engineer to join their team based in Vereeniging . This hands-on role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications infrastructure, including fibre optic networks, cellular towers, and associated equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our network assets in the field, working directly on-site to resolve technical issues and implement upgrades.
This position requires a proactive approach, strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality service delivery.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, antennas, and base stations.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on network infrastructure in the Vereeniging area.
- Diagnose and resolve network faults and service interruptions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Operate specialized tools and equipment for network testing and repair, such as OTDRs and spectrum analyzers.
- Adhere strictly to safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Document all field activities, including site surveys, installation reports, and maintenance logs.
- Collaborate with project managers and other field teams to ensure successful project completion.
- National Diploma or relevant certification in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a field engineer or technician in the telecommunications industry.
- Proficiency in fibre optic cable installation and testing, or experience with wireless network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of relevant network protocols and technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the designated service area.
