Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

About the Role

Our client is searching for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to lead crucial projects from conception to completion in their Benoni facility. This role demands strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering coupled with excellent project management skills. You will oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring the successful delivery of complex mechanical systems and infrastructure upgrades. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, drive project execution, and deliver results in a challenging industrial setting.

This is a key position within the engineering department, contributing directly to operational excellence.

• Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical engineering projects, from planning and design to execution and close-out.
• Develop project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, and monitor progress against these plans.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers to ensure project objectives are met.
• Conduct technical reviews of designs, proposals, and vendor documentation.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and handover of new mechanical equipment and systems.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 4 years in a project management or lead engineer role.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects in an industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
• Proficiency in relevant CAD software and familiarity with engineering analysis techniques.
