Process Development Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Development Engineer to join their innovative team based in Vereeniging . This role is focused on the research, development, and implementation of new and improved chemical processes. You will be responsible for taking laboratory-scale concepts through to pilot and ultimately commercial-scale production, ensuring efficiency, safety, and economic viability. • Lead the development of new chemical processes from conceptualization to commercialization.
• Design and execute experiments at laboratory and pilot plant scales to validate process parameters.
• Analyze experimental data to optimize reaction conditions, yields, and product purity.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and engineering teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
• Conduct techno-economic assessments for new process technologies.

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in process development , scale-up, or R&D within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation technologies.
• Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills.
• Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).
