About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Metallurgist to oversee metallurgical operations at their facility in Klerksdorp . This role is essential for optimizing mineral processing and recovery, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production. You will lead a team of metallurgists and technicians, focusing on process development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to maximize yield and product quality. This is a key position within their mining operations , requiring hands-on leadership and deep technical expertise in the North West province .
Key Responsibilities- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot metallurgical processes for mineral recovery (e.g., flotation, leaching, smelting).
- Oversee laboratory and pilot plant testing, analyzing results to improve full-scale operations.
- Manage process control systems and ensure adherence to quality standards and production targets.
- Lead and mentor a team of metallurgists and technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
- Conduct metallurgical accounting and reporting, ensuring accuracy in yield and cost data.
- Collaborate with mine planning and engineering departments to ensure seamless integration of metallurgical processes.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy within the mining industry .
- Proven expertise in various metallurgical unit processes and analytical techniques.
- Experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities for technical documentation.
